What the heck is this guy doing in the audience? He looks like he just got out of hospital and got immediate drunk. Man, this dude is lost big time or he just happens to be a great fan of Mokoma. Rock on!
Headbanging time! Amon Amarth will play here in Hellsinki in the beginning of November. Sounds good, very good.. It’s gonna be a good night. After that the tour continues in northern countries and in the middle of November Amon Amarth starts their North American tour, starting in San Diego and Phoenix. On 2008 Amon Amarth will also tour in Australia. So far Adeleide, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Brisbane have been confirmed. This is the first time for Amon Amarth to play in Australia. According to their website, the band is “thrilled about this tour”. So if you’re from Australia and interested in Amon Amarth, you better get your tickets quickly.
Holy shit.. this is absolutely great! Man, this guy gots some balls. HAH HAH!! “Iron Maiden man! You’re my third favourite band!” And Bruce replies “oh, really”? Heh.. that guy is so goddamn funny. “You guys are just pure evil, mate. Pure. Eeeeeviiiiiill”. Oh man.. I just keep on laughing..
Finnish heavy metal band Machine Men was founded in 1998. They started by playing Iron Maiden covers and since then Iron Maiden has been their major source of influence. Machine Men has released three studio albums. The band has toured across Europe and seems to continue on the same direction. The following metal video is Freak from Machine Men. It is a Bruce Dickinson cover song. For another great cover check out Twilight Guardians.
Yeah, as many people already know, Bruce Dickinson is also a pilot. He flies Boing 757 charter aircrafts. Here’s an interesting footage from Bruceair 666. It is somehow funny to see Bruce wearing pilot clothes. For more Iron Maiden, check out also Powerslave and Infinite Dreams.
Swedish Dark Tranquillity plays melodic death metal and plays it so damn well! It is said that Dark Tranquillity together with In Flames are the main developers of Göteborg-sound. I don’t actually care about that too much, I just listen to Dark Tranquillity because it rocks! Here’s one my favourite songs from the band, Zodijackyl Lights.
Carcass is back! They have reunited in this year and have started rehearsing for the upcoming tour. Carcass are confirmed to play in Wacken 2008. As said in the news release, 2008 will be the twentieth anniversary since the release of CARCASS’ first studio album. Many did not believe their reunion but now it looks for real. It is great to see them back! Oh, just to mention if you did not know yet, Michael Amott from Arch Enemy was one of the members in the old days of Carcass.
Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy takes a vocal lesson from Melissa Cross in the video below. In my previous post I said I was looking for information on how Angela produces her voice and this video opens it up a little. Growls without any music sounds a bit funny Anyhow, I would like to do it as good as Angela. My voice is clear tenor and I truely suck with growls. Man it sounds stupid when I try growls..
Here’s a pretty good, but short, interview of Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy. In fact this is a clip from Headbanger’s Journey. I wanted to understand the technique Angela produces her growl voice. This was video was not exactly what I was looking for but I decided to post this one because in this one Angela says few words about how she feels singing in death metal band. The main point clearly seems to be the powerful feeling related to singing this stuff. I have no doubt.
Buy Arch Enemy albums, clothing and other stuff in Headbanger’s shop!
Swallow The Sun, a doom/death metal band from Finland, has become pretty known here in their homecountry. The band was founded in 2000 and their third album (Hope) was released in February 2007. Swallow The Sun has lately toured in North America and will have tours in Europe as well. Check out the tour dates in their website. Swallow The Sun sounds good, I think I will buy their latest album.
Finnish gothic metal band To Die For might be in the end of their story. According to Metallimusiikki.net blog band’s vocalist Jarno Peräsalo has confirmed this in band’s MySpace site. As Peräsalo says, the future of To Die For is now open. The band has not decided whether to continue or not. In addition they have no deal with any company and they have no demos recorded. Band members may seek for inspiration from other projects and from other activities, so this might not really be the end of To Die For. We will see it in the future. Anyhow, To Die For has just released their fifth album, namely Wounds Wide Open. Here’s their music video for Hollow Heart.
A couple of days ago I posted a video from a Finnish trash metal band, Stam1na. It is so damn good band that I am forced to post a bit more of it. I find Stam1na good because of their dynamic music which is not “fastforward overkill” as some trash metal music I have came across with. Instead it contains fast pieces as well as peaceful moments, good headbanging rhytms and interesting hooks. In addition to that they have also a very humoristic approach which makes them interesting. Heh.. that was a general opinnion
Let’s quit this jargon. Here’s “Kadonneet Kolme Sanaa” (Direct translation: Dissappeared Three Words) from Stam1na. Stam1na is one of my favourites. Check out my post of their song Paha Arkkitehti.
