Amorphis is my long time favourite band (see Amorphis playing Perkele (The God of Fire)). I discovered their music somewhere 98-99 when they released “Elegy” album. I was sold totally. I listened the album day after days, week after weeks. It was just so fabuolous. Pieces like “Better Unborn” and “Against The Widows” were just so stunning, fantastic. Since those days Amorphis has changed a lot. They have became from black and doom metal to death and progressive metal that attracts more fans. Vocalist Pasi Koskinen, who has quite unique voice, left the band more than a year ago. Tomi Joutsen, who took over Pasi’s “job”, is a bit better on stage and has somehow better skills in singing and he fits in the band very well.
Amorphis has now released a new album “Silent Waters”. Once again, Mr. Holopainen and Koivusaari provide fabulous guitar sounds and riffs.
