Children Of Bodom has entered the studio to record their new album. The album is scheduled to be released on April 2nd (Finland) and April 7th (Europe) in 2008. I am waiting to get that album in my hands.. If you are interested how C.O.B. works with their new album, check out their studio diary. The first a couple of days guys have been setting up drums and recording few new songs.
While waiting for the album release, let’s watch this live video from Stockholm. Silent Nights, Bodom Nights.

This dude is great, I mean GREAT! I just love piano versions of classic metal songs and this one is almost on the top of my list. This guy is damn good with his piano and he just plays Metallica so well. I would like to get a CD full of piano versions of classic metal songs, played by some pro pianist. Is there any?
Heh.. you know, some folks say it is good to post something off-topic every now and then. Let me try..
Do you remember who was Fonzie? He was the leather-jacket cool dude in Happy Days long long time ago. Let me ask.. Can anyone in this universe be as cool as Fonzie? Man I keep on laughing on these videos..
Check out this video in which Fonzie saves the day (again).
This one is pretty old for most of us but I would like to post it because there must be people who have not heard of Apocalyptica. It is a Finnish metal band who play the cellos. They studied classical music and started playing Metallica covers together for fun. Soon they got audience and they became popular in Finland. Nowadays they are quite popular out there and they continuously get more and more attention.
Apocalyptica has shown that you can play metal music with the cellos and become famous without any guitar. These guys are unique and good. This music video is a cover of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters. Listen to it. It is just awesome, especially the beginning notes of the song.
Northern Kings will release their debut album by the end of this month. Here is “We Don’t Need Another Here” from the upcoming album. This is a cover song, originally sang by Tina Turner. Northern Kings is a group of “A-class” heavy metal singers from Finland, namely Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot), Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni) and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (Charon). My opinnion is that this is one of the best metal cover songs for long time. Very well done and sounds great.

Listening to Sonic Syndicate did not give me much. I need something different. It’s headbanging time. Here’s an old classic “Punainen Kukko” from Mokoma. Good old Finnish trash metal..
Ok, I heard about Sonic Syndicate a couple of days ago decided to post a video “Denied” with few comments. Sonic Syndiacte is a Swedish group playing melodic death metal music. Yeah, yet another Swedish metal band Swedish bands are doing great nowadays.
Sonic Syndiacte is getting popular, they play well and their music videos are well done. Check out this video “Denied”. I find it just good metal music but it does not impress me too much. They sound too much like In Flames. I would get more interested if they had something unique in their sound.
Oh, and those trendy haircuts and don’t provide any credibility for me. The only true headbanger seems to be the girl with bass.
I listen to various metal genres but melodic death metal is the one blowing minds. It just sounds so damn good. For some reason Swedish death metal bands are good, and one of them is Soilwork. Swedish metal music is getting better and better. Soilwork is a band who should get a bit more attention. Their music sounds good with aggressive guitar work and screaming combined with melodic parts with clear vocals. Soilwork rocks and that’s it!
Swedish band Sparzanza has released new material after four years of silence. The opening song “Going Down” from the album “Banisher Of The Light” really kicks some ass. It sounds strong and it has great bass and drum parts. It sounds somehow fresh hard rock. The whole album is a good package of good rock. I recommend buying this one. Rock!
