Children of Bodom - My Top 5 Children of Bodom Albums

cob.jpgFinnish death metal band Children of Bodom has become one of the best known Finnish metal bands in the world. In few years they have gained lots of fans from all around the world. They have been popular in northern countries for years, as well as in Japan, but now they are becoming known in United States as well. Children of Bodom have been around for more than ten years and they are still going strong. Currently they are making their new album in studio and fans have already been provided one new mp3, called Tie My Rope. The band has also recorded C.O.B New TV video from the studio which is available in Youtube.

I have been a big fan of Children of Bodom since 1999. I heard them first time while I was drinking beer with my room mate in university. I stopped drinking and asked, “Man, what is this? This fucking rocks!”. Next day I went to buy the CD for myself as well. The album was the legendary Hatebreeder, which is still my favorite Children of Bodom album. Because C.O.B. is one of my favorite metal bands, I wanted to compile a list of my top five Children of Bodom albums. Notice that this is not a review, just a list of my top 5 C.O.B. albums, and therefore I don’t comment the albums that much. Let’s roll..

Children of Bodom Album #1 - Hatebreeder

Awesome death metal album from Children of Bodom, absolutely a great piece of metal music art! This album contains the very best C.O.B. songs, such as Silent Night Bodom Night, Warheart and Downfall. The album is fast, melodic and powerful with lots of guitar and keyboard solos. If you are into melodic death metal, I strongly recommend buying this classic album.

Children of Bodom Album #2 - Are You Dead Yet?

Next I jump from 1997 (Hatebreeder) to 2005 to album Are You Dead Yet? After many albums, Children of Bodom plays again great death metal on this fantastic album. I rate this album as C.O.B.’s second best album. This album contains two fabulous songs, namely Are You Dead Yet and In Your Face. Additionally the second last song in this album, Trashed, Lost and Strungout is just one more superb metal song.

Children of Bodom Album #3 - Tokyo Warhearts

Tokyo Warhearts is a live album recorded in Tokyo. It is an awesome album covering all the legendary pieces and played live. It includes all those great songs, such as Silent Night, Bodom Nights, Warheart, Bed of Razors, Downfall and Hatebreeder. Children of Bodom are a great band on stage and this album really makes it clear. This album should be in every metalhead’s shelf.

Children of Bodom Album #4 - Chaos Ridden Years: Stockholm Knockout Live

The second live album of Children of Bodom is not as good as the first one, but it is so good that I rank it as fourth best album from the band. As the name says, the band probably lived in the years of chaos on those days. In this album C.O.B. guys don’t play as well as in the first live album, but the good old Children of Bodom sound fills in the room while Sixpounder and Silent Nights, Bodom Nights are played. For sure this is a great metal music album that really rocks!

Children of Bodom Album #5 - Something Wild

Although this album is the last one in my list, it is definitely a great classic album in the world of death metal music. The original C.O.B. sound is loud and clear while young C.O.B. guys play with huge energy and enthusiasm in this album. This album covers the classic songs, In The Shadows, Lake Bodom and Deadnight Warrior. Something Wild is a great death metal album to which you will never get bored.

This was my list of top five Children of Bodom albums. I hope you enjoyed and I hope this was useful for you. As I said, this was not a review, just a list of my favorite albums. A review of five albums would take a number of pages, so I prefer reviewing one album at the time. Just as a bonus in this article, I would like to point out a fabulous cover song from Children of Bodom, Oops I Did It Again. That cover song really show how skillful, capable, innovative and just so damn good musicians these guys are. Oh, and just check out how Alexi Laiho and Roope Latvala play Vivaldi. If you don’t know it yet, I bet you have never seen anything like this!

Oh, and there are lots of Children of Bodom T-shirts, beanie hats, patches, hoodies and even watches in Headbanger’s webshop. Check the out!

Being such a huge fan of Finnish rock music, you’d think COB would be on my list, but I actually haven’t gotten into them until just recently, when my friend started sending a few songs to me online, and I’m totally diggin’ ‘em. I have a couple songs from Are You Dead Yet? and Hatebreeder, but I’ll definitely check out the rest of these albums.

Another band I’m totally diggin’ on is Rusty Eye; they released a new music video for a song called “Mr. Cannibal”; if you’re into cool horror-type vids, you’d really like it. It’s twisted and rad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGhg96g85CU

    Enjoy :)

Heh.. you are right, they are a great band. I like very much!

I recommend you to buy Hatebreeder. It is a classic. After that I would buy Are You Dead Yet or Tokyo Warhearts. Those are fabulous albums as well. Just check out my list above. Anyhow, Hatebreeder is the number one album. Go and buy and you won’t be dissapointed.
