Metal-Music-Videos.Com and Year 2007 - a Quick Review

884880_50760433_small21.JPGDudes, year 2007 is soon history. A couple of days more and a new year begins with new challenges. This has really been an interesting year of metal music and my humble blog. I launched this blog in October and since then I have been writing articles almost on daily basis. It has really been a lot of fun for me because I love and breath metal music. My articles have covered topics that I am personally interested in, and I have written about many interesting bands such as Trivium, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy and Lamb of God.

The amount of visitors in my blog has grown steadily and it is glad to see people find my blog. In 2008 I will continue writing about bands, but I will also cover new topics. Some of them are “secrets”, but I can say that interviews are coming next year. I will perform a complete facelift which means I will introdude a new theme with higher usability. It is going to be staggering! Many things will happen next year, so stay tuned. This blog is going to develop very much. We have prepared this for weeks.

In 2008 we are going to introduce guest bloggers. If you are interested in publishing your articles, reviews, interviews or anything interesting for metalheads, send me email to furious.anger AT yahoo.com. Otherwise stay tuned in order to see our “guest blogger search campaign”. Our humble goal is to become the number one metal music video blog in blgosphere and we rednecks are really going to make it!

Thanks you for this year and welcome back in January 2008! I wish you all the best for 2008. Bang your heads and enjoy the world of metal music!

Grazy Ideas Turned To Profitable Business - Air Guitar World Championships

Some say we Finns are grazy enough to figure out really weird ideas, such as Air Guitar World Championships. Can you believe that we have also Wife Carrying World Championships, Rubberboot Throwing World Championships, Cellphone Throwing World Championships and Mosquito Killing World Championships? Yes, they are all real contests, and I have joined once Moquito Killing WC. Now we have also Air Guitar World Championships!

Wow! Cool!Air Guitar playing means that you act like playing a guitar. So you do not have any real guitar in your hands, you are just acting like playing a guitar. Playing air guitar is said to be a subcategory of dancing. Air Guitar World Championships was born in Oulu in Finland in 1996. Since then the contest is held yearly, and year after year it is getting bigger and bigger happening. It has turned to a profitable business.

This year’s winner in Air Guitar World Championships was Ochi “Dainoji” Yosuke, the same dude who won last year as well. This victorious air-guitarist shows some magic riffs and moves in the video below. Check out how he tunes his amplifier, makes some last-minute checkouts and talks to his crew. He is a professional air-guitarist. Notice his furious and aggressive style as well as his staggering outfit, the tiger shirt! This “Tiger-Dude” is really awesome. Listen to his tiger roar!

Tiger is really my idol, but let’s see a couple of more videos. Here is the Shaking Devil from Italy playing some good old rock and roll! Look at that speed. He must be exhausted after hour gig. I just wonder what I would play in the contest. May be Wintersun’s Beyond the Dark Sun.. no, in fact I would play Pantera’s Cowboys From Hell. Rock!

You really gotta have some balls when you enter the Air Guitar Championships stage. Check out this dude. He plays with great passion. Notice his cool rock and roll leopard overalls.

Playing air guitar is a great show in which you better have a good choreography in order to win. Check out how this guy combines his acrobatic skills with rock and power metal. It is also important to have an interesting persona and this dude makes sure that his tattoos are seen by the audience.

Cool competitions here in Finland, right? For more about Air Guitar World Championships, check out their website. Would you like to join the 2008 contest?

Andrea Bocelli - Adeste Fideles

Image source: http://www.universalmusic.fi/cutenews/data/upimages/Bocelli_The_Best__netti.jpgNow when all the packages are opened and you have eaten well, it is time to stop and listen to good music. No, not metal music today. Yesterday we played Twisted Sister, but not today. Today I provide you a Christmas song video from one of my favourite “non-metal” music artists, Andrea Bocelli. This Italian opera tenor is absolutely a great artist with a faboulous voice. As a 12-years old kid Andrea Bocelli was hit by a football, and because of that he is blind. He is one of the best selling tenors in the world.

Andrea Bocelli sings in Italian and one of his masterpieces is Con te partirò sang together with Sarah Brightman. That one piece staid in German TOP-10 list for six months. Before his music career, Bocelli studied law in Pisa university and he hold PhD degree. Here is one of the great pieces from Andrea Bocelli, a Christmas song Adeste Fideles.

Strurm und Drang - A Dream Come True for Young Metalheads

Sturm und DrangSturm und Drang is a Finnish metal band formed by four teenagers in 2004. Sturm und Drang plays power metal music and they are known from their young ages. Guys were only 15-16 years old when they released their debut album, which happened in the middle of 2007.

Sturm und Drang was founded by vocalist-guitarist André Linman and his mate Henkka Kurkiala. These young dudes were returning from Judas Priest concert and got an idea of setting up a band. First they played Judas Priest and Dio covers, but soon André started to compose their own songs together with his father, who is the manager of the band. Name Sturm und Drang comes from German music and literature movement in 1700 tales.

Sturm und Drang climbed almost to the top of Finnish official list with their Rising Son which is in their debut album Learning to Rock. Strurm und Drang has released two music videos, namely Rising Son and Indian. The band seems to be pretty talented and good, taking into account their very young ages. It looks like these guys will be noticed in the future. At least they seem to have good influences, such as Children of Bodom.

Sturm und Drang has got much attention. Their music video Indian is frequently played in Nordic MTV which has a remarkable amount of audience. According to interviews the quick fame has not affected these young and humble dudes. They say it feels a bit weird that kids keep on asking for autographs. A great experience for the band was making of their first music video. Guys seem to expect great experiences from the future, and I am pretty sure they will get what they are looking for.

Recently Sturm und Drang has been touring in Europe together with Apocalyptica and their calendar is booked pretty well for the future. Check out the video below in which young Sturm und Drang dudes play in Wacken open air festival in Germany. Just imagine what a dream come true for 15 and 16 years old youngsters!

Failed Stagedives - Do Not Stagedive Like This

Stage diving is the act of leaping from a concert stage onto the crowd below. It is very common nowadays that people jump from the stage towards the audience, and this is called stage diving. It is not only the artists who dive, but also the corwd. People climb to the stage in order to jump. When done wrong or when failed, stage diving can cause serious injuries. This article provides you few videos of failed stage dives. Stage diving is common in big festivals and in concerts of known bands, such as Trivium, Soulfly and System Of A Down.

When I was twelve, I went to see my hometown band’s gig in our neighboring town. I remember there was around 25-30 people in the audience while the band was playing. Suddenly someone climbed to the stage and jumped. Everyone moved away and the dude hit the floor. I remember thinking “what was the point”? Well, later on I have understood what was the point, but on those days stage diving was as usual as that you see a supernova. This happened in 1986 in Lapland in Finland, and the guy was more than very drunk.

So what did I learn from my experience? First of all, stage diving includes some risks, so you must understand what you are going to do if you go stagediving. Next you need to have crowd enough so that you won’t just hit the floor. The crowd must be willing to receive stage divers, and this is usual in metal festivals. Do not try stage diving in a non-metal concert in which people are not aware of this act. Make sure you are not too drunk. Ok, may be you say “who cares”? In that case you are taking higher risks, and that is fine with me. The point is that if you are jumping very drunk, you might get injured because you might not understand the situation well. What do I mean with injuries, is that you hurt yourself seriously. It is possible to fall on your head, spine or neck, and that might paralyze you. After one failed stage dive you might not move your legs and hands never again.

Let us have an example of a failed stage dive. A picture tell more than thousand words. There are 24 still pictures in one second of a video, so these videos might tell more than zillion words. Now, watch this to see a failed stage dive due to lack of people in the crowd.

In the next video we see what happens when nobody is going to catch you. Guy does a big jump like a pros, but nobody is going to catch..

Good? Better is coming.. Next we see how far stupidity can go. This guy is brave. He takes speed more than enough, jumps high, and with his feet ahead! And the crowd? Amazing five kids in the audience! You can guess the result.. I hope that dude did not hurt himself. This really reminds me my experience from more than 20 years ago.

When talking about injuries and landing on your head, this next video is a great example. I can only say, do NOT repeat this. This is insane. I have never seen anything as stupid as this act.

All right, metalheads. Go banging your head in metal festivals and go stage diving, but know your risks. Take it easy. Do not make mistakes that might paralyze you for the rest of your life. Rock!

Megadeth has released a new album, called United Abominations, and it is in stores right now. Band itself claims that the new album sounds like the classic Megadeth albums. The new album raises both positive and negative feedback. Some people praise the new album, while some others claim that it is one just one more reason to hate Megadeth. Well, I do not agree with those who do not like. Personally I do not like much A Tout Le Mond, but the new song, Never Walk Alone, absolutely rocks! I really like the riff in the new song, and Dave’s voice is just great. If I just do not care about A Tout Le Monde, the whole album is a good package of good old Megadeth music. See the album content below.

1. Sleepwalker
2. Washington Is Next!
3. Never Walk Alone…A Call to Arms

Tenacious D - The Greatest Rock Band in the World (According to Tenacious D)

Tenacious D - The Greatest Rock Band in the World! Picture from Tenacious D MySpace siteAll right dudes, now it has been discovered. The greatest rock band in the world. It is Tenacious D, leaded by the mighty Jack Black. Is it the greatest rock band in the world? Read this article and make your own conclusions. The fact is that Tenacious D makes pretty good music and they are damn funny and entertaining. Yeah, rock!

Tenacious D is an American rockduo including formed by actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass. Have you seen the movie School of Rock? Jack Black is probably best known from that particular movie. Tenacious D makes music with great humor, but suprisingly their music is very professional and it sounds damn good. Tenacious D released their first album (Tenacious D) in 2001. In 2006 they released their second album The Pick of Destiny. The band used to have their own television series, Tenacious D, but it did not last for long. Tenacious D has been very active, because they have released several music videos and two DVD’s, called The Complete Masterworks and Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny.

Several well-known artists have visited Tenacisous D albums, such as Ronnie James Dio, Meatloaf and Dave Grohl. I just wonder how would it sound if Ozzy Osbourne and Angela Gossow would join as well :) Tenacious D is really an interesting and different band who makes good music with great amounts of humor. What do you think about their video for The Pick of Destiny?

If The Pick of Destiny was pretty good, I would say their Kickapoo is even better. It is a well made song with an entertaining video. That little dude really looks like Jack Black! By the way, are you a Dio fan? Check out the video below to see Dio singing in Tenacious D music video.

Is Tenacious D a long-lasting band? I do not know, but right now they just sound good. Oh, and what do you think about the title of this article? Is Tenacious D the greatest rock band in the world? Just drop you comment.

Check out Headbanger’s shop for Tenacious D albums, DVD’s mp’3 and clothing.

Five Bands I would Like to Invite to My Christmas Party

Christmas is soon here and so is the party. I mean so called “pre-Christmas” party. We have already had that party at my work but some companies are going to have it on this week. There is always some live music in our parties. Usually there are some deadly boring old fags playing 70’s pop and rock covers. I have never seen a metal band in any parties organized by my employers. If I was in charge I would organize a bit different Christmas party..

Who would you like to see live in your party? I am into metal music, so I created a list of five bands I would like to invite to my party. After their gigs the bands would naturally join the audience and spend time with us. Which bands I would invite? Read below.

Band number 5: Mokoma

Mokoma is a band I would definitely invite to my party. They know how to entertain audience and how to play some trash metal. I would love to sit down with Mokoma’s singer Marko Annala and share a discussion. He is a clever guy and would probably have interesting things to say. Unfortunately he has quit drinking, so I could not drink a couple of Whiskey’s with him. Anyhow, Mokoma would be a perfect band to start the party with their aggressive trash metal.

Band number 4: Machine Head

Our trash metal party would continue with the great American metal band Machine Head who would provide us some more headbanging rhythms. I believe few dudes at my work would be very satisfied with Machine Head who would start their “my Christmas party” gig by playing Now I Lay Three Down.

Band number 3: Anthrax

After two great trash metal bands it would be great to continue with.. more trash metal! Good old Anthrax would play us their old classics such as In My World, Indians and Got The Time. Additionally they would play also some new stuff, but the singer would be Belladonna. With all the respect, all Anthrax singers have been good, but personally I prefer Belladonna. My great Christmas party would be well warmed up when Anthrax plays their What Doesn’t Die.

Band number 2: Lamb Of God

No no, my party would not be over yet. It would just get better and better, because the next band coming to satge would be Lamb Of God, who would start their gig by playing Redneck. Now, after Lamb of God gig I could have my change to drink a couple of Whiskey’s with these guys who do not say no to alcohol. I would not ask a single “fan question”. I believe they here them enough.

Band number 1: Children Of Bodom

Just before the midnight, the fifth band in my Christmas party would enter the stage. Children of Bodom would start their gig by playing Silent Nights, Bodom Nights. They would play 30 minutes for me and other nerds at my work. Just before the end of their gig, Children Of Bodom would play In Your Face.

So, my party would finally be over and all the nerds would get back to their homes. Well, I would thank the bands and ask them to join me and my mates to see the well kept secrect, Pantera playing live at Tavastia club in Hellsinki. I think I would run out of money before the first bands has entered the stage..

Have a great trashing Christmas party! Who would YOU invite? Drop a comment.

Two Most Important German Heavy Metal Bands - Part I: Helloween

There are few great German heavy metal bands, but two of them I rank as the most important of all time. They are Gamma Ray and Helloween, both founded by Kai Hansen, the legendary German vocalist-guitarist. In this two articles series I present those two bands and tell some latest news from the bands. Let us start with Helloween.

helloween.jpgIf you have never heard of Helloween, you must have been living under a rock. Helloween is a German power metal band, founded in Hamburg in 1982. The band was founded by guitarist-vocalist Kai Hansen, and the band released their very first album, the legendary Helloween in 1985. The album was a great success, and later on same year Helloween released their second album, Walls of Jericho. On those days Hansen found out that he has troubles playing guitar and singing at the same time and therefore he quit singing.

Helloween discovered their new singer, Michael Kiske with whom they recorded the very famous Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part 1 album. That album, as well as the second part of the album, brought the band into spotlights. During their biggest success Kai Hansen decided to leave the band. In 1989 Helloween released Live in the UK and in 1991 they released Pink Bubbles Go Apen, which was a failure. In 1993 they released Chameleon, after which the band fired Michael Kiske. In 1994 the band made a comeback with new singer, Andi Deris. They released Master of the Rings album, after which Ingo Schwichtenberg committed a suicide. In 1996 the band released The Time of the Oath which made them super-popular again. Between 1998 and 2004 Helloween continued average success and released few albums. After 2005 Helloween has continued growing their success and has released Keeper of the Seven Keys: the Legacy album. The latest album from Helloween is Gambling with the Devil, released in late 2007.

What’s up with Helloween? The band is touring now with Gamma Ray and just few days ago there played here in Finland. In their first gig in Finland they played the songs you can see in this song list. Next the band will play in Slovakia, Germany, France, Neatherlands and UK. To Japan Helloween will fly in February. I missed Helloween, just like I missed Arch Enemy and Trivium. Well, this was not a big loss because I prefer listening Helloween from the times of Michael Kiske.

Mokoma - The Finnish Trash Metal Flagship Mokoma Has Released a New Album “Luihin ja Ytimiin”

Some years ago I went to see Maj Karma in the legendary Tavastia club in Helsinki. While taking off my jacket, an old friend of mine from the staff came to discuss a little. We talked about the upcoming gig and Maj Karma band which on that time was a pretty unique and artistic band. Soon my friend asked if I had heard about Mokoma. I said I have not and I asked what kind of music they play. “They play trash metal and they are unique, aggressive and furious. You will like them”. I promised to check them out. That was a good decision. I never get bored with Mokoma.

MokomaMokoma is really an interesting trash metal band. They sing in Finnish, which tightens their market to cover a bit more than 10 000 fans, but the guys are not here for the money. They have a great passion to make their music and they are satisfied with the fact that they will never reach a big audience. Why not? The two reasons are that they sing in Finnish and they make aggressive trash metal which is not as popular as many other music genres, such as rap and punk rock. Anyhow, Mokoma plays trash metal that definitely makes you bang your head. Their albums are fantastic, but they are even better on stage. They know how to entertain metalheads.

Mokoma’s first records included only clean vocals, but in their latest albums majority of the vocals are screaming and death metal grunts. Mokoma’s singer Marko Annala is an average singer and therefore his clean vocals are not the best part of their music. As soon as Annala changes to death metal grunts or screaming, he definitely rocks. Marko Annala sings with great passion and energy and it is a pleasure to listen to his aggressive singing.

Marko Annala writes the lyrics that many times are related to his own feelings and experiences. For example, in their previous record, Kuoleman Laulukunnaat, Marko Annala wrote much about his intimate experiences with life and relationships. Marko Annala has become better and better with lyrics, and personally I like most the lyrics of Kuoleman Laulukunnaat album.

Mokoma’s new album Luihin ja Ytimiin is out now. There are few samples available in Mokoma’s MySpace site. The new albums seems to be the most aggressive Mokoma album in which Mokoma experiments with trash, death and black metal elements. Mokoma does not follow any rules which can be realized from unpredictable compositions. This is one of the keys that make Mokoma’s music long-lasting. Nujerra Ihminen begins with a real kick-start and continues with aggressive riffs and fast speed. It is a good example of the new album.

Mokoma does not make mainstream music. Their music includes massive riffs, interesting hooks, energetic drums, furious screaming and helluva lot more details that make their music long-lasting. Mokoma’s music is not easy to swallow if you are not interested in trash metal. If you are, then you might easily get hooked. Check out their albums and make your own conclusions. Mokoma is a great live band who is reaching more and more fans. If you are coming to Finland on next summer, check out Mokoma’s tour dates and find yourself in their audience. I bet you would not be disappointed.

I could write a book about Mokoma, but this time this is enough. Check out the video below. What do you think about Mokoma? Like it or not? Just drop a comment, please. I would like to hear your opinions as well.
