Now, punk fans, listen to this. Kylähullut has released a new album, called Peräaukko Sivistyksessä. What? You don’t what I am talking about? Let me tell you..
Kylähullut (Crazy Villagemen) is a side-project of Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom. In fact, Alexi calls this band as their “therapy band”. You will figure out why. Kylähullut has just released a new album, Peräaukko Sivistyksessä, which directly translated is “Asshole in Society”. Kylähullut plays mostly punk, but also rock and speed metal and it is founded in 2004 in Finland by Alexi Laiho (guitar), Vesku Jokinen (vocals) and Tonmi Lilmann (drums).
Kylähullut was founded because Alexi Laiho (C.O.B.) and Vesku Jokinen (punk band Klamydia) wanted to shock Finnish citizens with new music. Soon they asked Tonmi Lillman (To Die For) to play drums. During their first get-together Tonmi woke up while Alexi was drawing pussy pictures to his legs. Kylähullut has rehearsed once, which took 20 minutes. Next they went to a studio, which resulted into their first EP, “Keisarinleikkaus”. The first recording was so much fun that the band decided to do it again. This time they did not have any rehearsals and they walked straight to a studio. Four days of drinking and playing music resulted into the second EP, “Turpa Täynnä”. The story goes on until now the band has released a full album, “Peräaukko Sivistyksessä”. Just to mention, Tuomas Holopainen from Nightwish plays keyboards in the new album.
Kylähullut has received both positive and negative feedback, mainly because of their lyrics and the titles of their songs. For some people those titles are too rude and radical, even though they are purely jokes. Well, who cares? As long as they sound good, I really don’t care about that. Kylähullut has got some attention from abroad as well, even though they sing in Finnish. Alexi Laiho is already a recognized guitar player in the worldwide metal scene and it helps Kylähullut to get some attention.
Kylähullut sounds pretty good. I am not actually a punk fan, but I must say this band sounds good. Heh.. because of the lyrics
If you do not understand Finnish, you might miss a lot. Kylähullut is a damn funny band whose music I just keep on listening..
