Nightwish had a gig in Jyvaskyla in Finland on Friday. After only three songs they had to stop playing due to thick smoke on stage. Finnish newspapers reported that there was a lot of smoke and flames in the roof. The whole audience, about 6500 people, was evacuated immediately.
Nightwish quickly stepped back from the stage, but came back later on and continued the gig. People were not in panic, but a little bit furious due to half an hour break. The fire was a real, but hopefully the firemen took the situation in control.
People were not reported about the incident, which is probably one reason for being frustrated. Hopefully Nightwish bassist Marco Hietala told the audience the fire in the roof. Newspapers report that Marco Hietala had asked the audience: “Are You Still in Flames”? ?
Another great news from Nightwish is that today their Dark Passion Play album has sold 100 000 pieces in Finland! In Switzerland the album sales has reached the platinum level. This is great for Nightwish, and as a Finn it feels good when the bands of my home country make success.
Nightwish is touring now in Finland, tomorrow (Saturday) in Tampere. In the end of December Nightwish will play in Austria and Germany, after which they will play one gig in Finland before they continue to Japan, China, and Australia and so on.
