Sturm und Drang is a Finnish metal band formed by four teenagers in 2004. Sturm und Drang plays power metal music and they are known from their young ages. Guys were only 15-16 years old when they released their debut album, which happened in the middle of 2007.
Sturm und Drang was founded by vocalist-guitarist André Linman and his mate Henkka Kurkiala. These young dudes were returning from Judas Priest concert and got an idea of setting up a band. First they played Judas Priest and Dio covers, but soon André started to compose their own songs together with his father, who is the manager of the band. Name Sturm und Drang comes from German music and literature movement in 1700 tales.
Sturm und Drang climbed almost to the top of Finnish official list with their Rising Son which is in their debut album Learning to Rock. Strurm und Drang has released two music videos, namely Rising Son and Indian. The band seems to be pretty talented and good, taking into account their very young ages. It looks like these guys will be noticed in the future. At least they seem to have good influences, such as Children of Bodom.
Sturm und Drang has got much attention. Their music video Indian is frequently played in Nordic MTV which has a remarkable amount of audience. According to interviews the quick fame has not affected these young and humble dudes. They say it feels a bit weird that kids keep on asking for autographs. A great experience for the band was making of their first music video. Guys seem to expect great experiences from the future, and I am pretty sure they will get what they are looking for.
Recently Sturm und Drang has been touring in Europe together with Apocalyptica and their calendar is booked pretty well for the future. Check out the video below in which young Sturm und Drang dudes play in Wacken open air festival in Germany. Just imagine what a dream come true for 15 and 16 years old youngsters!
