Two Completely Different Ways to Spend Friday Evening - Headbanger and His Wife

I and my wife are from different planets. I am from planet Metal and she is from planet KidsClothing. In my planet we live with music and are surrounded by people like Phil Anselmo and Henry Rollins. In her planet they live with the Internet and are surrounded by kid’s clothing. We are very different as persons. Let me tell you how.

It is Friday evening and I am returning from my fu*%&¤$@# boring job. I drive my old rusty car and listen to Radio Rock, a Finnish metal and rock music channel. I don’t like it much but it’s the only channel playing metal music. I bang my head and sing together with Trivium. Weekend is beginning and I want to settle down.

At the same time my wife is driving her VW New Beetle around our little town. She has been shopping (Damn!) again with our kids. She is in love with kid’s clothing and boutiques selling that (damn expensive) stuff. She has been shopping the whole day long, she is a bit tired and she wants to go home and take it relaxed. Kids are tired and they fight (oh man, yet another fight) on backseat.

We both arrive at home almost at the same time. We go in and.. oh yeah, we did kiss, of course.. and take off jackets. It is time to make some food. As I put our dinner to oven, I realize we have one hour time to do something else. What do we do? Sit down and discuss? Play games? No way, she goes upstairs and opens a laptop. She starts surfing in the Internet looking for new ideas of kid’s clothing! Holy Shit! She just came back from shopping. I don’t understand women..

What do I do? I take a cold beer (oh yeah!). No, not Budweiser but Hoegaarden, one of the best wheat beer from Belgium. I sit down, put on my headphones and start listening to Trivium. What a great feeling.. This is it. Kids are in their own room in upstairs, I am alone, I’ve got a beer and I am listening to the first notes of Trivium’s Crusade.

What are you doing“?!?! I hear her loud voice and I see her standing in front of me. “You promised to go out with children, to make a snowman“! Bloody hell, “did I“? Aaarrgh! “No, not right now! See, I’m sitting here with my beer and“.. “You’re drinking BEER? You selfish moron“!

All right kids, we are going out now. We have some work to do. We gotta make a fuckin’ snowman. I just wanted to sit down, listen to Trivium and drink my holy beer..

We are from different planets but that’s why I love her. I am the lazy metalhead and she keeps to whole system running. She is smart, I am artistic. She loves clean houses, I love beer. She loves to play with children, I love metal. She loves arranging kid’s parties; I love jumping into a moshpit. She loves kid’s clothing, I love band T-shirts. She is from planet KidsClothing, I am from planet Metal.

Dudes, here’s one of the best tracks ever made. Period. Enjoy your Friday!

Sounds kinda like my wife and I. I used to love kicking back after work with a nice Room temperature Franziskaner Dunkelweizen. I used to get it from the Army Base in New York. Can’t find it in the south so the best thing I can get is an American made unfiltered wheat beer

Hi Scott, sorry for this late answer. I had problems with showing comments in this blog, but now it is fixed.

Franziskaner is good beer, I like as well. Unfortunately they don’t sell it in my local little shop :(
