Meshuggah, Meshuggah, Meshuggah.. - I Can’t Get Enough Meshuggah!

meshuggah1.jpgToday I met the dudes I used to work with when I lived in Switzerland. One of those guys is Matti, a fellow metalhead. I met him about two and a half years ago when I went to their office to figure out with Matti what was wrong with our software product. While working with him, I was introduced with a band called Meshuggah. Matti asked me, “You like trash metal”? I said, “Hell yeah!”. I remember that Matti said something like “It’s not an easy band to listen but the more you listen the more you want it”. I wanted to give it a try. I asked Matti if it is like Anthrax, to which Matti replied “no, it’s far better”. I continued asking if the band is like Stam1na, to which Matti replied “no, I said it is far better than those”. I got interested. I wanted to hear that band. I needed to hear Meshuggah.

Meshuggah. What the hell that name means? Well, it took me a while to hear what it means. The name is Hebrew for “crazy”. Meshuggah plays trash and progressive metal. They are known from their use of extended polymetric passages, complex drum patterns, odd time signatures, angular, dissonant guitar riffs, and harsh vocals [Wikipedia].

I went home later in the evening and searched for Meshuggah in the Internet. Soon I found the band and some videos in YouTube. I was surprised. “Is it THAT GOOD? Wow!”.

meshuggah2.jpgMeshuggah was formed in Umeå, Sweden in 1987. They released their first record in 1989, and their latest record, called obZen) will be published in March 7th in this year. The band makes music that is not always easy to understand, because they utilize complex rhythms and alternative tempo.

Meshuggah is going to start touring in late March. The band will support Ministry in their US and Canadian tour as stated below (direct copy from Meshuggah website).

I love Meshuggah because their music provides a neverending amount of hooks and interesting details. It is played very well, they have a great sound and the vocals are just perfect. Meshuggah is a great band, truly a band I can recommend. I cannot get enough Meshuggah. I need to listen to Meshuggah more and more..

Listen to this to know why I love Meshuggah.
