Five People Injured In ‘Rowdy’ Mosh Pit at Avenged Sevenfold Concert

Blabbermouth is reporting that several patients were taken to hospital after being injured Friday night at the Taste of Chaos concert at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Five people suffered from injuries such as twisted ankles and chest and abdominal pains. The local TV station WFTV has reported that the moshpit in the 5000-people concert got out of hand. Wittinesses say that more than 1000 people were allowed in the pit, which got very rowdy and chaotic.

The Taste of Chaos concert — featuring Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for My Valentine and Atreyu, among other bands — took place at the UCF Arena“, says Blabbermouth.

In Februry we asked our readers “should moshpits be banned“. The signal is clear no, even though accidents like this happen every now and then.

See the comment of John Claypool. He wants to defend good old mosh pits, but is against chaotic mess of violence. I agree with John. A peaceful mosh-pit is a great place to express yourself, but there are always jerks looking for a fight.

What do you think? Should mosh pits be banned or is this just over-reacting? Leave your opinion to comments.

No way should pits be “banned”. I wonder how they’d implement stopping one from forming in the first place? Would everyone have their own box to stand in they couldnt move from? I have seen the change from the pit where it was pure energy and mosh fun where everyone helped each other out to, the now pit of “fuck you, I’m punching your girlfriend in the face”. It’s pretty sad, actually. These days it’s even hard to stand at the side of them without some jerk charging right for you.

Well said, Jamie! I remember also how pits used to be a place to release your energy and have fun. Now people jump into pits with negative attitude, like they were looking for a fight. It’s a pity really. Watch old videos of Anthrax gigs and see how different it used to be. Compare those videos with today’s videos of Trivium and Lamb of God gigs in which people are just punching each others.

    Thanks for your comment, Jamie!
