Diablo - Still Going Strong

Sorry guys that I have not been blogging lately. I have been way too busy with my work and I have been forced not to blog for some days. It is still a mess here, but I hope I can get back to my daily blogging pace. As I mentioned some time ago, we are setting up a new metal music blog because the domain name of this blog just sucks. It looks like we’ll be able to bring it live somewhere on June-July.

I was on a business trip to Stockholm, Sweden and I came back home last night. It was a great trip, not because of my work but because I met my brother who lives in beautiful Stockholm. My brother visited my hotel room and we played some headbanging music and discussed about music. That’s all we can do, talking about music and booze. We are just two old farts..

While listening to various bands, like Arch Enemy, Soilwork, In Flames and Opeth (see, we were in Sweden), I also discovered Diablo’s albums on my laptop. Diablo is a Finnish band who plays melodic death and thrash metal. Diablo was formed in 1995 by two brothers, and their fifth album (Icaros) has been released in May 2008.

For some reason Diablo has never become a big name. I wonder why, because they simply play great metal music. Their Mimic47 jumped to the top of Finnish album list in 2007, but since those days people have not much talked about Diablo. I believe their marketing has now failed because their music simply rocks. Wanna hear Diablo? Listen to Mimic47 below (from album Mimic47).

My hardcore metalhead friend Jani introduced me Diablo’s music some years ago. I didn’t get kicked in the beginning, but after a couple of weeks I totally got hooked on Diablo. I listened to their album almost daily during several weeks. May be that’s why I haven’t listened to Diablo lately. You should never listen too much only one band..

Now, listen to a little bit older material of Diablo. Here is Read My Scars from Diablo’s album Eternium (2004). Awesome!

I love Diablo’s very heavy guitar riffs and rhythms. Diablo sounds like a massive black train that goes with a stable and fast speed and cannot be stopped. Diablo sounds powerful, fiercer and masculine. Diablo is men’s music. Now, check out Queen of Entity, my all time favorite song of Diablo. Hell yeah!

Diablo can be compared to Metallica, Meshuggah and Queensryche“, says the latest Soundi, Finnish music magazine. That makes sense. Diablo has elements that remind me those bands listed. Diablo’s latest album Icaros is made under new record company, so let’s see if Diablo will get more attention. Oh, but how about live shows? How is Diablo on stage? Check out below how Diablo plays in Helsinki just before Metallica entered the stage.

Diablo. Still going strong.

Diablo - Mimic47

This one is already a bit old but still rocks! Diablo is yet another great Finnish metal music band playing melodic death metal. Check out this video. The singer reminds me James Hettfield of Metallica. For purpose? For more death metal, check out also my post of Arch Enemy.

Anyhow, I enjoy Diablo. They are a great metal band playing aggressive music. Hell yeah!
