The Virus is Killed and I am Back! - Latest News From the Field of Metal Music!

metal.PNGWow, man! It feels great to be back! I have been sick for the last 8 days. I had some kind of a stomach virus and I was lucky to enjoy some wicked pain in my stomach 24/7.. This morning I woke up and realized the pain is gone, so I decided make some strong coffee and start writing. It feels helluva good to be back blogging and rocking!

What’s up in the field of metal music? Well, many interesting things. Kerry King talks about his tattoos in Talking Metal. Kerry has absolutely cool tattoos. Check out! See also Hell Yeah talking about how the band came out. According to Blabbermouth and Lars Ulrich, the new Metallica album should be out in September. Let’s see.. MetalSucks.Net wrote a funny post of Sebastian Bach sinking lower. MetalMartyr.Com is giving away All That Remains album for free. Check it out! Oh, just to mention, it’s only for U.S. and Canadian residents. Scott Wharton from MetalMartyr.Com has started publishing video interviews. Check out this cool interview of All That Remains! Read also what MetalInjection says about the new album of Meshuggah.

Oh yes, a lot of interesting things are happening in the battle field of metal music. These were just a few links I have found interesting lately. I had some time to surf around the web as I spent my sick leave on bed. I had lots of time to check out new bands and listen to music that I have already forgotten. For some reason I found myself getting more and more back to Meshuggah. If you are interested in Meshuggah and their new album obZen, you can listen to it in Meshuggah MySpace site. The album is out now and you can purchase it from the links in Meshuggah MySpace site.

I would like to notice also that we have randomly drawn the winner of our February free giveaway contest, but I am struggling with the video right now. We recorded it all on video would like to publish it in this blog, but we have some troubles with video editing. We are newbies with that kind of stuff and it seems to be painful.. Anyhow, we know the winner and will publish it as soon as the video has been edited! The winner will receive the Bullet For My Valentine value-pack in this month.

Oh yes, and don’t forget to watch this sick video of a day in the life of Meshuggah! Damn funny stuff.. I gotta say the vocals recording session in the end of the video is probably the most weird I’ve ever seen :)

Meshuggah, Meshuggah, Meshuggah.. - I Can’t Get Enough Meshuggah!

meshuggah1.jpgToday I met the dudes I used to work with when I lived in Switzerland. One of those guys is Matti, a fellow metalhead. I met him about two and a half years ago when I went to their office to figure out with Matti what was wrong with our software product. While working with him, I was introduced with a band called Meshuggah. Matti asked me, “You like trash metal”? I said, “Hell yeah!”. I remember that Matti said something like “It’s not an easy band to listen but the more you listen the more you want it”. I wanted to give it a try. I asked Matti if it is like Anthrax, to which Matti replied “no, it’s far better”. I continued asking if the band is like Stam1na, to which Matti replied “no, I said it is far better than those”. I got interested. I wanted to hear that band. I needed to hear Meshuggah.

Meshuggah. What the hell that name means? Well, it took me a while to hear what it means. The name is Hebrew for “crazy”. Meshuggah plays trash and progressive metal. They are known from their use of extended polymetric passages, complex drum patterns, odd time signatures, angular, dissonant guitar riffs, and harsh vocals [Wikipedia].

I went home later in the evening and searched for Meshuggah in the Internet. Soon I found the band and some videos in YouTube. I was surprised. “Is it THAT GOOD? Wow!”.

meshuggah2.jpgMeshuggah was formed in Umeå, Sweden in 1987. They released their first record in 1989, and their latest record, called obZen) will be published in March 7th in this year. The band makes music that is not always easy to understand, because they utilize complex rhythms and alternative tempo.

Meshuggah is going to start touring in late March. The band will support Ministry in their US and Canadian tour as stated below (direct copy from Meshuggah website).

I love Meshuggah because their music provides a neverending amount of hooks and interesting details. It is played very well, they have a great sound and the vocals are just perfect. Meshuggah is a great band, truly a band I can recommend. I cannot get enough Meshuggah. I need to listen to Meshuggah more and more..

Listen to this to know why I love Meshuggah.
