Good Article in Metalsucks.Net - Sebastian Bach Needs to Shut the Fuck Up

I just stumbled upon a good article in Metalsucks.Net (which is a great blog by the way). Metalsucks.Net says Sebastian Bach needs to shut the fuck up because every time he opens his mouth he makes a mistake. This time he makes it big time..

Sebastian BachMetalsucks.Net refers to an interview in Rock Monthly in which Sebastian Bach says he has 80 000 “friends” in MySpace but he has not sold that much records. Sebastian Bach “kindly asks” his MySpace “friends” go and buy his records. Man, just read the excerpt below copied from Metalsucks.Net..

“… the whole ironic thing to me is I have over 80,000 “friends” on MySpace but I have not sold 80,000 records; if you’re my “friend,” could you go fuckin’ buy the motherfucker? (Laughs) Who cares if I have 80,000 “friends”?! I mean, who gives a shit! I want to sell 80,000 records! If every one of my “friends” bought my record, it would be great! Whatever! Some friend! (Laughs)

Yeah right. I like the comments on this in Metalsucks.Net. Sebastian Bach and his team should definitely realize the marketing power of Web 2.0 and utilize it and forget complaining that Sebastian’s MySpace friends do not buy his records. I have few hundreds of friends in MySpace, most of them bands, and I can say I will never buy a record from every single band I know. I simply have no money enough! So Sebastian, cool down and be a bit more humble and respect your MySpace friends. And utilize the power of web 2.0.

It somehow looks like Sebastian Bach assumes that masses go purchasing his records, just like that. It is 2008 now, not 1984 anymore. Sebastian, you are not a superstar anymore but you could be if you work hard and you have high quality material to provide. Do not assume people go and buy your records as soon as you have released. You need to promote it actively, utilize various marketing tactics, and last but not least go touring. I am reading Metallica book right now and according to the book metal music scene in L.A. and San Fransisco in 1980-1982 was start starting. On those days you had not much competition, and if you founded a trash emtal band, you soon found yourself playing in Whiskey. Today there are zillions of trash metal bands and it is very hard to get to the top, even though you had a great marketing machine supporting you. You must be unique and you must provide very good and intereting music in order to get to the top.

It is interesting to hear about 80’s star, such as Sebastian Bach. I was a teenager in 80’s and I used to listen to trash metal, new wave brittish metal bands and glam rock on those days. Although I do not listen to Sebastian Bach much nowadays, it is interesting to hear how he is doing. Anyhow, if I hear such comments from him as above, I really loose my interest to follow his music career. Instead I rather follow bands like Accept, Helloween or Pantera. If you are an artist, I expect you to show some respect to your fans, at least a little bit. Anyhow, one thing is clear for sure. Sebastian was and still is one of the best singers in hard rock scene. I really enjoy listening his music because he is so damn talented singer.
